Shui Chuen O Estate water normal

August 11, 2015

No lead exceeding World Health Organisation standards was found in water samples from Shui Chuen O Estate in Sha Tin, the Transport & Housing Bureau said today.

Responding to media enquiries, the bureau noted that Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung had already stated in a press conference on August 7 that lead levels in the estate’s water samples did not exceed the WHO standard and no lead was found in the soldering materials during water sampling tests and retests there.

As some organisations had found excessive lead from water samples of individual units, the Housing Department and the Water Supplies Department had conducted a number of sampling tests from the units concerned and found no samples with excessive lead.

Up to August 7, the Housing Department had completed water sampling tests for 33 projects from 25 public housing estates, and eight projects were found to have excessive lead content in water samples, the bureau added.
