Safe estate water priority

July 13, 2015

Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says the Government's first priority in its investigation into Kai Ching Estate's water quality problem is to determine the cause and to ensure a safe water supply.

He made the statement to the media today, saying the Housing Department is giving the estate's tenants bottled water for now.

The department has met the contractor to dicuss remedy measures, including water pipe replacement.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has set up a hotline (2125 1122) for the booking of free blood tests for the estate's children under six, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

So far 625 enquiries have been received and 396 appointments have been made.
