HKI traffic slow

October 25, 2014

Traffic on Hong Kong Island roads remains slow as major trunk roads are still illegally occupied, the Transport Department says.

It reminded that a number of public events will be held on Hong Kong Island tomorrow. To facilitate an event at Hong Kong Stadium, special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay.

Traffic lanes on Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street, Pennington Street, Jardine's Bazaar and Hennessy Road westbound will be intermittently closed from about 3pm for a public procession to be held in the afternoon in Wan Chai.

In Mong Kok, road sections including Nathan Road southbound between Mong Kok Road and Dundas Street, Nathan Road northbound between Waterloo Road and Argyle Street, Argyle Street westbound between Nathan Road and Shanghai Street, and Shantung Street between Nathan Road and Tung Choi Street, are closed, leading to the diversion of 78 bus routes travelling via Mong Kok.

A total of 207 bus routes are still affected by the protests, and 20 green minibus routes that use Harcourt Road, Nathan Road and Argyle Street are still diverted or suspended.
