The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department will investigate into a huge banner that was hung on the Lion Rock and take prosecution if there is sufficient evidence.
The banner, which was found hanging on the cliff yesterday, was removed by the Fire Services Department and the Civil Aid Service this afternoon.
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department stressed that the banner's display was not authorised by the Country & Marine Parks Authority, and therefore had to be removed in accordance with the law.
It also said the huge banner would have posed a danger to public safety if it had been blown off by strong wind.
Anyone found guilty of displaying a sign, notice, poster, banner or advertisement within a country park or special area without permission is liable to a maximum $2,000 fine and three months' imprisonment, under the Country Parks & Special Areas Regulations.
