Chief Executive CY Leung urges legislator Leung Kwok-hung to explain in detail the allegation that he was offered a large sum of money to support the political reform package.
The lawmaker admitted today that he had made up the amount of $100 million, which he said a middleman had offered him to support the reform package.
The Chief Executive said Mr Leung must state clearly immediately whether he had made up only the amount - or the entire story.
The allegation is serious and vote buying is an offence, the Chief Executive noted, adding Mr Leung should report the bribe to the Independent Commission Against Corruption if it was truly offered.
