An announcement will be made at the appropriate time on clearing the occupied areas in Causeway Bay and Admiralty, Chief Executive CY Leung said today.
Mr Leung told reporters during a visit to Qianhai that authorities believe some protesters may turn to more radical acts when the movement is about to end.
Stressing that the movement is illegal, he said the Police have the responsibility to take enforcement action to restore public order.
He urged the protesters, in particular young people and students, to retreat from the occupied areas as soon as possible for their own safety.
