Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says the Government appreciates the views expressed in the recent civil referendum on constitutional development.
Briefing reporters after a charity event today, Mrs Lam said she believes the general public wants universal suffrage, a vision shared by the Hong Kong and Central Governments.
However, she reiterated that the proposal tabled by the Hong Kong Government later must comply with the Basic Law and National People’s Congress Standing Committee decisions.
