CE welcomes rational reform discussion

Chief Executive CY Leung has welcomed rational and accommodating discussions on electing the Chief Executive in 2017 and Legislative Council members in 2016.
He said it is important for the community, Legislative Council members, and political parties to work together.
Speaking to the media today on the Consultation Document on the Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive in 2017 & for Forming the Legislative Council in 2016, he said the launch of the five-month consultation is an important step in Hong Kong's political development.
He and the entire government will fully support the related work, he said, adding his responsibility, as Chief Executive, is to implement political reform which enables universal suffrage in the 2017 Chief Executive election, and he is glad to serve in this regard.
During the consultation process, the Government will be humble and open-minded in listening to views from the whole community, including legislators, political parties and people from all walks of life, he added.
