Chief Executive John Lee said today he had thanked Indonesia for its continuous support of Hong Kong’s bid to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

Mr Lee made the remarks at a press conference in Indonesia, noting that he had held discussions with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

He said: “Yesterday I was delighted to meet President Widodo of Indonesia. I thanked the President for extending the hospitality and facilitation of the Wonderful Indonesia to me and my delegation.

“I told the President that Hong Kong is determined to strengthen co-operation with Indonesia on various fronts such as trade, investment, finance, innovation and technology, as well as culture and tourism.”

The Chief Executive was due to join a luncheon hosted for the Indonesian business community, which he said would strengthen ties between the Hong Kong delegation and its Indonesian friends.

He highlighted that Hong Kong and Indonesia would sign 15 memoranda of understanding and agreements at the event.

“I look forward to furthering our relations with Indonesia and bringing fresh impetus to our economies,” he added.
