Tech chief visits Shenzhen
Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong visited Shenzhen today to witness the signing of an innovation and technology (I&T) co-operation pact between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
In the morning, Prof Sun and CPC Shenzhen Standing Committee Member Zheng Hongbo co-chaired the Task Force for Hong Kong/Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Cooperation meeting in Shenzhen. They had an in-depth exchange and discussion on deepening the (I&T) co-operation between the two places.
Witnessed by Prof Sun and Mr Zheng, Commissioner for Innovation & Technology Rebecca Pun and Director of Shenzhen Science & Technology Innovation Commission Wang Youming signed the Arrangement on Comprehensive Promotion of Hong Kong/Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Cooperation in the meeting.
Prof Sun said through the arrangement, he looks forward to strengthening high-quality I&T co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen and bolstering collaborative innovation of industries, academia and research and I&T linkage to support the development of an international I&T centre in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by leveraging on the two places' respective strengths.
The technology chief also visited the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation & Technology Cooperation Zone exhibition centre to learn about the work of the Shenzhen I&T Zone as well as progress of the planning and development of the co-operation zone.
He then met CPC Shenzhen Standing Committee Member Zeng Pai in Qianhai where they exchanged views on strengthening the linkage between both places.
Prof Sun stressed that Qianhai is an important co-operation platform between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, adding that Hong Kong will take the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone as an entry point to integrate into the national development and further enhance its high-level co-operation with Shenzhen.
He also visited the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone to learn about the development of Hong Kong technology enterprises there.
During his trip, Prof Sun inspected the Shenzhen International Quantum Academy in the Futian District, which focuses on the research and development of emerging quantum information technologies and industrial applications.
In addition to touring the Take2 Health laboratories that provide early nasopharyngeal cancer screening services in Qianhai, he also visited SmartMore Corporation, which helps different industries adopt smart production with advanced technologies.
