Lantau development advisors appointed

The Government announced today the appointment of 19 non-official members to the Lantau Development Advisory Committee for a two year term fom February 1.

 

The Chief Executive announced the committee's establishment in his Policy Address, to map out an economic and social development strategy for Lantau.

 

The non-official members include members of the Legislative Council, Heung Yee Kuk, District Councils, think tanks, tourism and logistics industries, and professionals and academics.

 

They are Chan Han-pan, Chan Yung, Chau Chuen-heung, Marvin Cheung, Chow Yuk-tong, Ivan Chu, Joe Fang, Allen Ha, Prof Ho Kin-chung, Billy Lam, Franklin Lam, Peter Lam, Lam Lit-kwan, Andrew Lam, Lau Ping-cheung, James Wang, Wu Chi-wai, Yiu Si-wing and Randy Yu.

 

The committee will be responsible for advising the Government on the social and economic development opportunities on Lantau, to capitalise on its advantages as the confluence of major transport infrastructure linking Hong Kong, Macau and the western Pearl River Delta, to meet the long-term development needs of Hong Kong. It will also advise on policies, measures and specific proposals conducive to Lantau's sustainable development and conservation.
