An animation exhibition, an art festival, a maritime week, and a sand sculpture competition will be held in the coming days to celebrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th anniversary.
The Heritage Museum has collaborated with Pixar Animation Studios to present "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship & Family".
The exhibition will feature hand-drawn sketches, paintings, storyboards and sculptures created by Pixar artists, and will run from November 18 to March 5.
Another event for art lovers is Hong Kong Art Week 2017, which will run from November 15 to 26. With more than 50 member galleries participating, the event will showcase Hong Kong culture through exhibitions, performances, symposiums and family art days.
One of the week’s highlights will be the Gallery Walk for Charity on November 21, where hundreds of art lovers will take to the streets from Central to Sai Ying Pun for a "gallery hop", with nearly 30 galleries staying open until late in the evening to participate.
Hong Kong Maritime Week 2017 is another celebratory event. It will kick off on November 19 at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sheung Wan, where an opening ceremony will be followed by an orienteering race. About 50 events will be held to promote Hong Kong as a maritime hub.
Meanwhile, the Southern District Sand Sculpture Competition 2017 organised by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Southern District Recreation & Sports Association will be held on Shek O Beach on November 19.
