Pan-democrats’ action disappointing

March 11, 2015

The pan-democrats’ rejection of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee decision on constitutional development is disappointing many Hong Kong people.

This was the message from Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen today, telling reporters not much time is left before the Government submits a proposal for the Legislative Council to consider.

He appealed to the pan-democrats to refrain from counter-productive acts that destroy the atmosphere for further communication.

Responding to a question on graft, he said there is no evidence to suggest an increase in Hong Kong’s corruption rate or in cases involving government officials, adding the anti-graft system is working well.

On the investigation into former Chief Executive Donald Tsang, Mr Yuen said he cannot comment on how much longer it will take, adding the Department of Justice will properly consider the legal and evidential matters in a comprehensive manner.
