Chief Executive CY Leung said today that nomination procedures for the Chief Executive election need to be established in accordance with the Basic Law and the National People's Congress Standing Committee's decisions.

Speaking ahead of the Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung said that the Government will listen to people's views on how to take forward constitutional reforms under this framework, and establish a nomination committee accordingly, after it is endorsed by the Legislative Council.

He added that those who wish to serve Hong Kong could run in the election by universal suffrage, but stressed it is too early to say who is suitable to run.
