CS urges protesters to leave

December 10, 2014

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam has appealed to protesters to pack their belongings and leave protest sites before Police start clearance operations tomorrow.

Speaking to the media today, Mrs Lam said Police will first assist in carrying out the injunction order and will then clear obstacles to reopen roads.

She called on parents, teachers, principals, and university heads to contact protesters and students today to persuade them to leave protest sites.

She noted some student leaders have invited demonstrators to return to Admiralty tomorrow. She advised against the move as some radical elements might make confrontation unavoidable, despite the restraint and professionalism exercised by Police.

The Director of Administration has asked civil servants not to go to the Central Government Offices tomorrow.

As some occupiers will prefer to stay at the protest sites, she urged them to be peaceful, orderly and non-violent.

She also asked journalists to ensure their press IDs are clearly seen to prevent any misunderstandings with Police.
