Chief Executive CY Leung urges the community to treasure the opportunity it has to achieve universal suffrage of the Chief Executive in 2017.
Briefing reporters today, Mr Leung said he understands some lawmakers and students are dissatisfied with the decision.
He asked them to study the National People’s Congress Standing Committee’s decision on Hong Kong’s constitutional development pragmatically, adding that having universal suffrage is a big step forward.
Mr Leung also said the Government will launch the second round consultation on constitutional development as soon as it is ready.
He called on society to voice opinions on the Central Government’s decision.
