Chief Executive CY Leung says the Government welcomes views on constitutional reform, but will not accept threatening words and violent acts.
Speaking to the media before an Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung said lawmaker Wong Yuk-man’s threatening words yesterday in the Legislative Council – where he spoke of throwing petrol bombs – are not acceptable.
Mr Leung said Hong Kong people enjoy freedom of speech, but should abide by the law.
The Government will act in accordance with the law in the case of threats or violent acts, he added.
He said the Central Authorities and the Hong Kong Government are sincere about consulting the public on political reform, adding threatening words and violence do not help.
