Terms of Reference
To advise the Department of Justice on the mediation regulatory regime in Hong Kong including (but not limited to) –- Reviewing the current regulatory regime of the mediation profession in Hong Kong, including the accreditation and disciplinary matters, and the structure, role and functions of Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (“HKMAAL”);
- Making recommendations to reform or improve the regulatory regime of the mediation profession in Hong Kong, including the questions of: (i) whether or not to transform HKMAAL into the only statutory accreditation body for mediators in Hong Kong; and (ii) if so, what would be the appropriate consequential changes (such as the statutory powers to be given to it); and
- Considering and advising on such other matters as may be incidental to any of the matters stated above and/or on such other matters relating to the mediation regime in Hong Kong as may be directed by the Secretary for Justice.
