Govt reports COVID-19 cases

The Home Affairs Bureau today said a Project Assistant working at the Community Care Fund Secretariat has tested positive for COVID-19.

 

The assistant, who provides clerical services on the 16th floor of Pioneer Centre in Mong Kok, last worked on July 23.

 

The office concerned has been temporarily closed to the public but has maintained services on a limited scale since July 20.

 

Meanwhile, a clerical staff member of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

 

He works at Nan Lian Garden in Wong Tai Sin and last performed duties on July 27.

 

The clerical staff member discovered he had a fever during a temperature screening that day and later went to the hospital. He was notified on July 28 that he had preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

 

A Clerical Grade staff member at the Correctional Services Department's (CSD) Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre has also preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

 

She works in the administration block and has no contact with people in custody or members of the public. She last performed duties on July 27.

 

She sought medical treatment at a government clinic after feeling unwell on July 28. She was notified today that she has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19.

 

All three patients wore surgical masks when performing their tasks. Cleaning and disinfection of the places involved have been arranged.

 

The bureau and the LCSD are highly concerned about the epidemic and will maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection. Meanwhile, the CSD has liaised with the centre to arrange for officers listed as close contacts to undergo COVID-19 testing.
